Contaminated Property & Brownfields Redevelopment
The firm represents property owners, lending institutions and purchasers and sellers of real property with environmental contamination issues. We have assisted clients in all facets of property- and facility-related environmental issues – such as recommending the right environmental consultant and assessing the benefits of Ohio’s Voluntary Action Program (brownfields), to determining ways of handling complex hazardous or solid waste issues, and supervision of large-scale remediation projects.
Representative matters include representation of a major defense contractor in a CERCLA and Ohio Voluntary Action Program cost recovery matter related to PCB remediation. This was one of the largest VAP cost recovery cases ever filed in Ohio. We also represented one of Ohio’s largest cities in a Voluntary Action Program litigation involving a former manufacturing facility impacted by costs of PCB contamination from historical foundry operations. Additionally, our firm led the environmental work for a real estate developer in the largest brownfield project redevelopment to date in Ohio.
