Solid and Hazardous Waste
Our attorneys have experience involving the siting, permitting and operational issues for both solid waste and construction and demolition debris landfills. The firm represents represent both public and private clients in this practice. Our attorneys have also advised on pioneering projects involving the unique environmental opportunities and risks associated with waste to energy projects for host communities. Additionally, our attorneys have experience with RCRA waste determinations including chemical recycling and beneficial reuse.
Representative matters include negotiating closure plans with US EPA and Ohio EPA for hazardous and solid waste units, as well as advising landfill owners and operators on regulatory compliance with solid and hazardous waste regulations. Our attorneys have provided counsel regarding Cuyahoga River dredging, disposal and beneficial re-use and development of environmentally innovative green bulkheads and disposal options; served as special counsel to a Bankruptcy Trustee overseeing a bankrupt solid waste landfill and represented a waste-to-energy developer in siting and financing of a proposed facility, which included analysis of flow control issues. The firm also served as counsel to a court appointed receiver for a defunct solid waste and construction and demolition debris facility.
